If your television was made before 2009, to use a TV antenna you will need to purchase a digital converter box. If you are not sure of the age of your television, you can check your owners manual for the manufactured date.
- If your owners manual says ATSC, it means you DO have a built-in tuner and can connect a TV antenna as long as you have an f-connector on the back of your TV.
- If you owners manual says NTSC, this means you DO NOT have the built-in tuner and you will need a digital converter box.
- If you are still not sure, please call your TV manufacturer.
A digital converter box connects to your existing TV using composite cables. This allows you to receive free over-the-air digital TV signals. A digital converter box is a one-time purchase with no monthly fees. One converter box is necessary for every TV that does not have a built-in digital tuner. A converter box is inexpensive and can be found at electronics stores or online.
