Just because you look out your window and see nothing but flat land for miles this does not mean there is not something blocking your TV signals. Since television signals do not go through terrain blockages, but rather hit the object and stop or are deflected in another direction, a slight rise in the landscape miles away from you can wreak havoc on reception.
